We are currently looking for a Buyer for our Countryside Farms plant in Steinbach.

To successfully fulfill your role within the organization :
Under the supervision of the Director of Operations, the Buyer has primary responsibility for purchasing supplies and packaging, negotiating with vendors, and working with our partners to identify opportunities for consolidating spend. Secondary function includes customer service and support.
Key Responsibilities :
- Communicate regularly with the Director of Operations, Materials Manager, and supervisors of other departments, as well as with the sales and customer service department to ensure good flow of information
- Identify opportunities to achieve savings via consolidating spend with other business units and partners
- Monitor inventory leves and project min / max requirements
- Work within the SAP environment for all transactions
- Create purchase orders, and verify the accuracy of shipment documents
- Negotiate inbound and outbound freight rates
- Identify and actively collaborate in the development of continuous improvement opportunities in inventory management and cost optimization
- Place packaging orders and follow up with suppliers
- Analyze and process packaging purchase orders in the MRP system
- Ensure rapid and efficient management of potential shortage problems
- Manage inventory levels based on set objectives and related costs
- Participate in the calculation and payment of all input costs
- Optimize inter-warehouse transactions in terms of costs and inventory levels
- Participate in transaction automation processes
- Assume any other responsibility compatible with his/her role, and which is assigned to him/her by his/her immediate superior
You are the ideal candidate if you have the following qualifications :
- Minimum two (2) years post-secondary education in a relevant field
- Minimum five (5) years of experience in supply chain, production planning, and inventory management
- Experience in the food industry (an asset)
- Excellent oral and written communication skills in English (French proficiency is a significant asset)
- Proficiency in SAP (an asset)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365.
